Alpaca

The Alpaca fleece gives a very strong and durable, fine natural fibre. It is warmer even than Cashmere, equally luxurious and soft, yet more durable than wool. It is also lightweight and more comfortable to wear close to the skin because the fineness of its fibres is less likely to irritate. Alpaca does not contain lanolin, making it less likely to generate allergies, and easier to clean.  Yet it also does not retain water, and has strong thermal retention qualities, as well as reflecting radiant heat. This reflects its origins in the mountains of the Andes where the animal had to deal with extremes of temperature.
